This project is a Water System Master Plan (WSMP) approved project for installing a new domestic waterline (WSPM ID M-12) and a new transfer waterline (WSMP ID T-55). The project is also included in the recent formation of a Reimbursement District to help with development of over 250-acres for workforce housing consideration.
Funding
City secured a Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) loan through Business Oregon in an amount of just over $6.9 million. This is one of the projects identified for use of the funds. Because the bid is $2 million lower than the consultant engineering estimate, this will allow for other waterline projects to be completed
The new 30-inch transfer waterline replaces an older 1910 era 24-inch concrete waterline and will provide additional capacity for storing more winter/spring water for our Aquifer Storage & Recover Program. The additional capacity, along with other water supply upgrades, will allow for more storage of water in the aquifer and is expected to help reverse the decline of native groundwater levels. This will help secure the City’s long-term water supply.
