Slurry sealing is a relatively low cost pavement treatment that helps to preserve and prolong the life of the asphalt. Typically, a slurry seal treatment is performed following a crack seal treatment.

Crack sealing is the process of placing an adhesive sealant into cracks on the pavement surface, preventing the infiltration of moisture and non-compressible materials into the pavement. It is inevitable that asphalt pavement will crack with time, but crack sealing is the lowest cost pavement treatment to help preserve and prolong the life of the asphalt. Crack sealing helps slows the rate at which new cracks form, reduces the possibility of potholes forming, and helps reduce more costly maintenance treatments earlier in the lifespan of the asphalt by preventing water from migrating into the subgrade.
Both processes maintain roadways.
