Water System Insertion Valves

This project would install two insertion valves in an area in need in the water distribution system. 

For water system maintenance and repair, such as replacing broken valves, crews typically isolate a small area affecting a few customers at a time. The impacted area does not have the ability to isolate, and repairs could require shutting off a larger water line, interrupting service for about 600 water customers. 

This project replaces a broken isolation valve on SW Goodwin Avenue and adds a new valve at the intersection of SW 30th Street and SW 28th Drive.

Installing these insertion valves  allow staff in the future to perform necessary maintenance and repairs within the water system while not having to affect so many of our customers.

Why It's Needed
The area of town between SW Hailey Ave, SW 30th St, and Houtama Road’s water is distributed by a 16” water line that currently has no isolation valves between the point of connection and Riverview Drive.  This area encompasses three large apartment complexes, two private developments and the Riverview subdivision, a total of about 600 water customers, mostly residences.
